Presents await!

I don't think I ever shared that I finally decided on what I was going to make for my nephew and niece. I wanted to make the book purse diy that I posted a few days ago but I never did get around to it so I went ahead and decided on a doll for my niece and a set of blocks for my nephew.
Here is some pictures:

Picture 1: My nephew, Mason is only a 1 year old so I figured making some colored blocks would be a good present for him. I went to Hobby Lobby and found some blocks that were fairly cheap and the last set they had!

Picture two: I used Basics acrylic paint. Perfect paint for painting if I do say so myself. This is the paint I've always used and the amount of different colors is probably my favorite part.

Picture three: Just a snapshot before I began my task of painting each block.

Picture four: The finished view of freshly painted blocks. It only took me an hour!

Picture five: The doll is obviously not complete. Emma is two years old and she is a girly girl. I figured she would love a sort of personal doll so I hope she really likes this when I finish. I went and bought the cloth doll at Hobby Lobby as well. I put the eyes inside and I still have to finish the clothing and face. I cut the onesie and sewed the bottom half into a diaper. and the onesie is now a dress. This part of my project is very challenging since I am not the greatest sewer on the planet. I didn't take a finished picture because I still have to complete the rest of the doll tomorrow night.

Picture six: I started out by drawing faces on the blocks. I used a marker for the outlines but when I tested it on one block I really didn't like the boring outcome.

Picture seven: I went ahead and paper mached the rest of the blocks with strips from the comic section in the newspaper. I just used flour and water as my glue. I like the kid like look to the blocks so I am happy with the finished product. I still have to paint the parts that have some left over goo on them.

side note: I will post better pictures of the blocks/doll when I am completely done.

Happy Holidays!
Thank you for reading!
(Happy birthday to my brother.)
